Somewhere I read that you can re-grow lettuce from the left over stumps.
I put them in shallow bowls of water on a window sill for several weeks
and sure enough, some of them began to grow. I have replanted a bunch
in pots next to our patio.I am growing, Romaine, Red Lettuce and
Escarole. We shall see if I have salad this summer.

Lovely painting
I was surprised to see lettuce in a neighbor's small in the ground garden sprouting new growth in the spring. I had no idea lettuce is the hardy.
