I grabbed what was at hand for a quick oil sketch.

Paint Rock Preserve

This location is a native bird sanctuary in Paint Rock, Alabama. It was a warm but very windy location and I had to keep one hand on the easel to keep it from blowing over. My dog loved bounding through the tall grasses in search of birds and other critters but she didn't find anything to chase. There is an old barn next to the parking area that I will be painting soon.

My dog and I enjoyed a warm morning and a quiet spot high on a hill behind a country church. I struggled with the paint and she chased birds. How ever many paintings it takes before I get a good one... I'm one closer today!

Number three of my "warm up / working out the rust" efforts. Thank you to everyone that has written to encourage and welcome me back. I am enjoying the paints and brushes and looking forward posting something good soon. (I don't dislike these last 3, but I am approaching them more as "warm ups" than anything else.)
