A quick sketch that I lost interest in about half way through. I'll try again another day.
UPDATE: After looking at this all evening I decided it just didn't work and that I needed to try to paint it the way it "felt" when I chose this spot. It was fun to try and tap into the memory and feeling and not have the pressure of the actual scene in front of me. I think this is just enough better that I'm going to attempt this on some of the paintings hanging around the studio.
This is a view of the storage room from my studio. The painting is from early May. It took two sessions to paint and over a month to remember that I had painted it. The yellow roses were a gift from Caroline to her mom.
An old industrial building is home to many artist studios. I wish I had one there, although I would still spend most of my time painting outdoors.
This painting is from last Sunday morning. My studio has been in flux with cleaning and searching out artwork and general mayhem. Things are starting to find their place again so I was able to photograph this tonight.
Two sure signs of Spring for me are when my Lilacs and Iris's bloom. The Lilacs seem to be running a little late for me but the Iris is a welcome sight.
This is my fourth of five paintings from my day among the Amish in the Charm Valley. The weather was changing quickly but I was able to get one more small painting done and head for home before the thunderstorms/tornado/funnel clouds hit.
I love baseball, everything about the game thrills me. This is the essence, the spirit, the history and all that is great and true of the game. This field is behind the Farmerstown School and I hope to visit it again when the amish school children are playing a game. Lastly, the other "bench" was a large tub/trough turned upside down.
