Memorial Day
24x30 oil on canvas. I had to tie down the easel, there was a slight breeze and this large canvas was catching it like a sail.

A Quiet Afternoon - Daily Painting, Landscape, River, Reflections, Ohio
9x12 oil on canvas panel. This painting is from last week. I spent this week working around the house and yard. It has been exhausting catching up on chores that have been long neglected but very satisfying to see them done. The next few posts are paintings from last weekend.

Still Hanging On - Daily Painting, Landscape, Spring Tree, Hillside, Sunlight, Shadow
16x12 oil on canvas board. Five years ago (almost to the day) I painted this very same tree hanging on to the side of this small hill in the woods.(You can see it here). Once again I loved the light on the small stream at the base of the hill and the tree still there, still hanging on and the overall spring green glow was magical. I tried some different things with this painting, more on that later in the week. I am pretty pleased with the picture.
Rocky Riverbank - Daily Painting, Rocky River Reservation, Ohio, Cleveland Metropark, Landscape
9x12 oil on canvas board. A view of the shoreline at noon. I was attracted by the brightly lit rocks and shadow across the river

On The East Branch - Daily Painting, landscape, Rocky River Reservation, Ohio, Spring
12x9 oil on canvas board. The only thing better than hiking through the woods and along the rivers with my dog, is painting the woods and rivers for a few hours each day. I really feel like I'm starting to get the hang of it. The river and the rocks help me organize the painting. Pretty soon I will tackle the deep woods without the aid of the river to open the scene up for me.

Late Afternoon on the River - Daily Painting,Rocky River,Ohio, Metro Park, landscape
8x10 oil on canvas board. One of my favorite views of the river and cliffs above. This spot is across the road and through the woods from Frostville.
Bits of Frostville - SOLDDaily Painting, Frostville, North Olmstead Historical Society, House, Barn, Church, Garage, oil painting
11x14 oil on canvas board. I knew I wanted to paint in Frostville but I couldn't decide what to focus on. My solution was to back up and try to include a little bit of everything
