Somewhere I read that you can re-grow lettuce from the left over stumps.
I put them in shallow bowls of water on a window sill for several weeks
and sure enough, some of them began to grow. I have replanted a bunch
in pots next to our patio.I am growing, Romaine, Red Lettuce and
Escarole. We shall see if I have salad this summer.

I am calling this done, mostly because I am tired of looking at it!
This was definitely one of the hardest paintings I've attempted. A self portrait is a constant battle that in the end you can't really be satisfied so much with the picture, but the challenge is an extraordinary learning experience.

I have wanted to try a self portrait for awhile. This is my warm up painting. I found a crappy barn picture that I painted in Connecticut 20 years ago and recycled the canvas. I hope to do a couple more quick ones to get used to looking/painting my face and work out a more interesting concept and design.
The step by step photos help me see some of the more obvious flaws as I am working. The photos are approximately 15-20 minutes apart.
